The filter chamber of the plate-and-frame filter press consists of a flat filter plate and a hollow filter frame. The filter cloth is fixed on the plate frame. This is the early main filter press form, while the filter chamber of the box-type filter press is composed of two adjacent recessed filter plates. The main advantage is that it is convenient to replace the filter cloth. The disadvantages are low efficiency, poor filtering effect and easy damage of the filter plate; the working principle of the box-type filter press is that the filter plates are arranged to form a filter chamber (the two sides of the filter plates are recessed, and every two filter plates are combined to form a box-shaped filter chamber).

The surface of the filter plate is provided with pimps and bosses to support the filter cloth. There are through holes in the center and corners of the filter plate, which form a complete channel after assembly, which can pass into the suspension, washing water and filtrate. Each side of the filter plate has a handle supported on the beam, and the filter plate is pressed by a pressing device. The filter cloth between the filter plates acts as a seal.

The main advantages of this model are less loss when feeding, fast filtering speed, good sealing performance, uniform filter cake washing, low water content, and uniform pressure in each filter chamber. It is basically suitable for all solid-liquid separation industries.
